Mia Turner, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Yoga Instructor, Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, Neurodiversity-affirming EMDR specialist, and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Ketamine Assisted Therapy Provider. She identifies as a person, fairy, survivor, healer, advocate, fellow traveler, friend, creative, listener, learner, quirky, nerd, multiply neurodivergent, AuDHDer, Black, Caribbean, BIPOC, Multi-racial, Disabled, Fem, Spiritual, Activist, and an Empath.

Mia is from the Bay Area, California, founded Yaarah Therapy & Wellness Services to address the need for culturally-specific, trauma-informed mental health treatment options, that promote strengths, unity, validation, and hope for diverse and traditionally marginalized communities, and folks who identify as African American from the African Diaspora, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), Neurodiverse/Neurodivergent, Disabled/Differently Abled, LGBTQIA2S+, and from traditionally marginalized communities. 

Due to systemic oppression, residuals of ancestral/ generational trauma, and neurodivergent, African American, and BIPOC communities being under and inappropriately served, Yaarah Therapy & Wellness Services is intentional in offering services through an integrative, individualized, multicultural, Neurodiversity-affirming, and Decolonization lens to multiply marginalized folks who might feel more comfortable working with a therapist who has similar cultural and lived experiences.

Mia’s Professional experience

 

Mia Turner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, holding a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, with a Concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy, from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA.

Mia is fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy.

Mia is a fully trained Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Ketamine Assisted Therapy Provider. Mia completed training with Alchemy, Journey Clinical, and Fluence.

Mia is trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

Her professional experience in the field includes working with community mental health agencies, non-profit foundations, and educational and research institutions. In addition to providing psychotherapy, Mia is a certified RYT-200 Yoga instructor, Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, and she provides coaching, consultation, trainings, professional development mentorship and supervision for pre-licensed clinicians. Her experience also includes organizing community healing offerings, guest-speaking for mental health events and podcasts, and facilitating mindfulness, somatic, yoga, trauma skills, HipHop- narrative therapy, and parent-education groups, and she was a previous stakeholder for the African American Steering Committee for Health and Wellness (AASCHW) for Alameda County, California from 2020-2022.
